La galerie se réjouit de présenter ‘Nektar and Ambrosia’, le premier solo show à Paris de la peintre allemande Mona Broschár (née en 1985, vit et travaille à Leipzig), diplômée depuis 2014 de la Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst (Académie des Beaux Arts) de Leipzig, et qui avait participé en 2022 à notre group show ‘The Ballroom’.
À travers une dizaine de peintures inédites ou récentes, Mona Broschár a composé un banquet pictural luxuriant, entre hyperréalisme, psychédélisme et mythologie revisitée. ‘Nektar and Ambrosia’ fait ainsi référence à la nourriture divine des dieux de l’Olympe, un festin d’immortalité et de délices dans lequel la peintre puise une métaphore de la liberté et de jouissance esthétique.
Connue pour ses toiles méticuleusement composées, Mona Broschár détourne des symboles visuels culinaires ou décoratifs (viande, pâtisseries, fleurs) pour les transformer en objets de contemplation. Elle réussit à faire glisser le genre de la nature morte vers une ode contemporaine à la subsistance et à la tentation, où chaque élément semble à la fois familier et irréel. Pour ‘Nektar and Ambrosia’, ses compositions baroques évoquent une table festive dressée pour une divinité, où l’excès et le raffinement cohabitent dans une mise en scène soigneusement orchestrée. Si les dieux, selon l’artiste, prennent forme dans nos imaginaires, ses œuvres deviennent alors des portails vers une mythologie intime et universelle, où le regardeur est invité à devenir, à son tour, un convive (ou un dieu) de cette célébration picturale.
‘Nektar and Ambrosia’ invite ainsi à une expérience visuelle : comme des mets sucrés trop brillants pour être vrais, les peintures de Mona Broschár offrent une forme d’ivresse picturale et mentale — une immersion dans une perception revisitée du réel, à la fois familière et déroutante.

Galerie LJ presents ‘Nektar and Ambrosia’, the first solo exhibition in France by German painter Mona Broschár (born in 1985, lives and works in Leipzig), a graduate of the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst (Academy of Visual Arts) in Leipzig (since 2014), who took part in our group show ‘The Ballroom’ in 2022.
Through a body of new or recent paintings, Mona Broschár composes a lush pictorial banquet, blending hyperrealism, psychedelia, and reimagined mythology. ‘Nektar and Ambrosia’ refers to the divine food of the Olympian gods — a feast of immortality and delight from which the artist draws a metaphor for freedom and aesthetic pleasure.
Known for her meticulously composed canvases, Mona Broschár reinterprets culinary and decorative visual symbols — meat, pastries, flowers — and transforms them into objects of contemplation. She shifts the genre of still life into a contemporary ode to sustenance and temptation, where every element appears both familiar and surreal. For ‘Nektar and Ambrosia’, her baroque compositions evoke a festive table set for a deity, where excess and refinement coexist in a carefully orchestrated setting. If gods, as the artist suggests, take shape in our imagination, then her works become portals into a mythology that is both intimate and universal, inviting the viewer to become, in turn, a guest (or a god) at this pictorial celebration.
‘Nektar and Ambrosia’ offers a richly visual experience: like desserts too dazzling to be real, Mona Broschár’s paintings deliver a kind of visual and mental intoxication — an immersion into a reimagined perception of reality, both familiar and disorienting.
